Why You Should Write Your Story Now

“A time comes in everyone’s life when we all realize we have a story to tell, we understand that we have locked in a lot of experiences. These experiences urge
us to write a book”
Damilola Jonathan

Do you know how important stories are? Have you ever thought of the unending influence stories have on our generation?
Well, if you do not know yet, I hope you don't wait till you are much older before sharing your story.

There would come a time in your life when your feeble hands will not be strong enough to hold your pen. As much as you would love to use this light pen to scribble some words, you would realize how heavy it is for you to bear. Each seconds, the pen gets heavier, and you would have no choice than to drop it.

Someday, you would love to talk to some teenage boys and girls about how you spent your childhood, however they would be unfamiliar with your mode of communication. You would be old by then, having difficulty operating technology devices. You would need help to make phone calls, video calls and even access your social media account.

One day, your grand children would leave you in your old house, to meet someone of your age, because that person has some exciting stories they need to hear. That person would share stories of things happening now. You would left alone in the house, lonely not because they hate you, but because you have no story to share with them.

Just one day, you would realise you made the biggest mistake of your life by not recording all that happened to you know. You would wish you had written your first love's name in your journal, or written the date you had your first kiss in a diary. You would wish you had kept everything memorable.

Some day, you would really love to share your story, but you would be too old to tell it the exciting way. Right there, you would wish you had written a book, kept pictures or even owned a blog.

One day, your kids and grandchildren would walk up to me to listen to my stories, read my blog post, books and see my pictures. They would love it, sadly they will have to ask why you have no stories what so ever. Why you had such a boring childhood? If you were never adventurous.

They would ask if you never travelled, fell in love, went on a date, kissed your lover, get mad at your lover, made your first dollars. They would ask so many questions, and you would have nothing to say. Perhaps, you will tell them, "stories are only meant to be told by writers", or maybe you would tell them, "I was too busy making money silently".

You will feel bittered about it. You would wish you could turn the hands of time. You would wish you had shared your story. I would not want you to live in regrets at old age.
So dear friend, share your story.
